From the blog
Buying your first home in San Francisco.
What to expect, what it costs, and the questions worth asking before you start.
How much do I need for a down payment?
Down payments start at 5% for qualified buyers. A banker can walk you through what fits your budget.
Do you lend on condos and TICs?
Yes. Our underwriters work in San Francisco, so condos and tenancy-in-common properties are routine for us.
How long can I lock my rate?
Up to 60 days, so you can close without worrying about the market moving.
Will checking my rate affect my credit?
Pre-approval uses a soft credit check, which does not affect your score. A full application uses a hard inquiry.
Do I need to be a member first?
You can apply and join at the same time. Membership is open to anyone who lives, works or studies in San Francisco.
Can I pay my loan off early?
Yes. None of our loans have prepayment penalties.
What documents will I need?
Usually a recent pay stub, a government ID, and for auto loans the purchase agreement or vehicle details.
