Join in about six minutes.
Open to anyone who lives, works, worships or studies in San Francisco, plus their family. It costs $5, and it makes you an owner.
How to join
Three steps, no paperwork.
01
Check you can join
You can if you live, work, worship or study in San Francisco, or a family member does.
02
Open your membership savings
A one-time $5 deposit into a membership savings account. That $5 is your share of ownership.
03
Add what you need
Checking, savings and loans, whenever you're ready. Opening an account does not affect your credit score.
Who can join
If San Francisco is part of your life.
Membership follows where you spend your days, not just where you sleep. And once you're a member, you can stay one wherever life takes you.

What it means to be an owner.
A bank answers to its shareholders. A credit union answers to its members, because the members own it. Your $5 share is your stake, and it's the same stake as everyone else's.
Every member gets one vote, whatever their balance, to elect a volunteer board of directors. There are no outside investors to pay, so what we earn comes back to members as better rates and fewer fees.
Your savings are federally insured.
A two-minute explainer from the NCUA, the federal agency that insures deposits at Copper: standard coverage is $250,000 per member, for each account ownership category.
