Most members open the Copper app to check a balance and close it again. It does a lot more than that. Here are five features worth two minutes of your time, including the one setting we wish everyone would turn on.
1. Lock your card in one tap
Can't find your card? Lock it from the Cards tab before you start searching. Nothing can be charged while it's locked, and unlocking it is just as fast when you find it under the couch. If it's really gone, you can order a replacement from the same screen.
2. Round-ups
Turn on round-ups and every card purchase is rounded up to the next dollar, with the difference moved into a savings goal. It's spare change, but members who use it typically save a few hundred dollars a year without noticing.
3. Deposit checks with your camera
Choose Deposit, photograph the front and back, and you're done. Write "For mobile deposit at Copper" under your signature, and keep the check for two weeks before shredding it.
4. Send money instantly, for free
Pay back a friend or split dinner with anyone who has a phone number or email address. Transfers between Copper members arrive straight away, and sending money never costs anything.
5. The one setting to turn on: paycheck alerts
Go to Settings, then Alerts, and turn on Deposit alerts. You'll get a push notification the moment your paycheck lands, which is often up to two days early with Copper. It's also the quickest way to notice if a deposit doesn't arrive.
Copper tip: While you're in Alerts, turn on card alerts for any purchase over $100. It's the earliest warning you'll get if someone else is using your card.
